The end of most, if not all, advertisements is to see to it that a dude gets a girl (sometimes a chick gets a chap). The product is the means to seduce a girl, be it a car, a bike, a razor, an insurance policy, a chocolate, an inner wear, a beverage, a sofa, a piece of minty, a tin of emulsion, a bag of cement, a pair of pants, an electronic gadget, a goddamned gutkha, a "club soda", a detergent or a mosquito coil. Not to mention cosmetics, deodourants, soaps, shampoo and condoms. Sometimes a particular girl is targeted, but by and large any girl would do. Something is better than nothing. So, the "ideas" that go into an advertisement are pretty standard. You know the end. You have the means. Now, have a set of girls in various outfits. Have one or more dudes. One important thing over here - All dudes but one are unaware of the product, they use some uncool one or none, so they are duds at best. However, the Dude is able to pull up the most comicool jugglery since he uses the product and so... (in Fight Club terms) can "hit the bottom" easily, well... so to say. In no time, he is successful in impressing upon one or more girls the fact that he is amorously formidable. And then? And then, life is good.
I have absolutely no problems with dudes hankering for girls and chicks for chaps. Go ahead. Let all the dudes get all the girls they want. But aren't there any less stupid ways of doing so than they show on TV? Man...!!
