The 'init' process is created 'by hand' (and not thru a 'fork()') when the system starts. She does not have a mother. So, in that sense she's an orphan. Isn't it funny and ironical that she later on takes care of all the orphans in the system!

By the way, I am not yet out with my *seminal* thory relating life and UNIX processing environment, thou I've talked about it with some of you.
Will write it out for u guys soon. :) Beware :-D

What does creating 'by hand' mean? :-))
